Jul '25New FeatureEntitlements

Grandfathering in Entitlements (EAP)

Chargebee now supports grandfathering item entitlements, giving you fine-grained control over how updates to your plans, features, and pricing are rolled out. You can now choose whether these updates apply only to new subscriptions or all subscriptions. Learn more in our API docs.

Why is this important?

Grandfathering entitlements helps you retain customer trust by honoring existing agreements for current subscriptions, while still allowing you to introduce new features, pricing, or changes for new subscriptions. It allows you to support customer retention, increase product adoption, and execute operational changes without impacting your existing subscribers.

How can you use it?

Currently, this feature is in EAP. Write to the Chargebee EAP team to get this enabled.

Level 3 data now supported for Adyen

Chargebee now supports Level 3 data for Adyen, allowing you to provide enhanced transaction details when processing B2B and B2G credit card payments.

Why is this important?

With Level 3 Data support, you can include more detailed transaction information during payment processing. This lowers your interchange fees and improves the accuracy of your transaction reporting, making your payment operations more cost-effective and transparent.

How can you use it?

When using Adyen as your payment gateway in Chargebee, Level 3 data will be included automatically for eligible transactions.

Icelandic Króna (ISK) is now supported as a zero-decimal currency

Chargebee Billing now supports Icelandic Króna (ISK) as a zero-decimal currency.

Why is this important? Following recent regulatory changes, ISK no longer supports fractional values. Previously, applying taxes like 24% VAT could result in decimal invoice amounts (e.g., 12.4 ISK), which are now invalid in real-world transactions.

How can you use it? To enable ISK in Chargebee Billing, follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Currencies > + Add Currency.
    1. In the Choose your Currency section, select the currency as ISK - Icelandic króna.
    1. Click Add Currency.

New in-app EAP and BETA landing pages to boost feature adoption

Previously, whenever you came across an EAP or BETA feature in Chargebee Billing Documentation, requesting access meant going through manual Typeform flows, leading to limited onboarding. To simplify access and accelerate feature adoption, we now offer a new in-app experience for selected EAP and BETA features with fewer steps. These are the feature documents where you can experience this new flow - Subscription Ramps, Omnichannel Subscriptions, Salesforce CPQ Integration, Usage-Based Billing, Customer Transfer, Payment Components, Payment Schedules, and Advance Invoices.

Why is this important? Adoption of early-stage features often stalls when customers face friction in discovering or signing up for them due to the multiple steps involved. With more new features entering the EAP and BETA phases, a better integrated approach is essential for our customers' onboarding and improving operational efficiency.

How can you use it? If you go to an EAP or BETA feature in Chargebee Billing Documentation, you will see a callout with a Request Access option. Click Request Access, and on the feature page, click Request Access again to register your interest.

Jul '25Bug FixesPayments

Apple Pay button visibility improved

The Apple Pay button in Chargebee checkout is now displayed only when a customer has an eligible Apple Pay payment method in their wallet. This update prevents confusion by hiding the button for customers who cannot complete payment with Apple Pay, resulting in a clearer and more efficient checkout experience.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Accuracy fixes for Checkout's French translation

On the full-page layout for Checkout, we've corrected the translation for "addons" to reflect the intended meaning in French.

Jul '25Bug FixesInvoices

Email templates now support contract term placeholders

You can now use contract term-related merge fields in Invoice Posted email notifications without encountering errors. Previously, adding these placeholders, copied from other templates like Invoice Generated resulted in a key word 'contract_term' not found error, as the support for contract parameters had not been extended to net-D email templates. With this fix, contract details can be included in the notification content, giving you greater flexibility to personalize and inform customers about their billing commitments directly in the invoice communication.

Jul '25Bug FixesSubscriptions

Addon billing cycle now accurately validated against subscription

You'll now receive accurate validation when setting addon billing cycles in relation to the subscription's billing cycle. Previously, the system simply compared the numeric values of the billing cycle fields without factoring in the actual billing periods, causing errors when an addon's cycle appeared numerically greater than the subscription's, even if it was logically valid.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Amount mismatch error fixed

If you have taxes enabled in Checkout, after entering their address and proceeding to click on Subscribe, your customers may have encountered an error "The paymentIntent's amount does not match the transaction amount." . We've fixed the issue.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Payment Component auto-fill issue resolved for GoCardless direct debit

When using Payment Component to initiate direct debit payments via GoCardless for an existing customer, their billing details were not being pre-filled on the GoCardless-hosted page. This issue has been resolved. The customer's saved billing information is now automatically populated, helping reduce drop-offs and speeding up payment completion.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

We've fixed an issue where suggestions in the card and address fields on Payment Component weren't aligning properly with their respective input boxes. With this fix, dropdowns now appear neatly positioned, making it easier for your customers to select and enter their information accurately.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Missing help text fixed for custom fields in full-page Checkout

Help text for custom fields in the full-page Checkout layout now appears as expected. Previously, while you could configure help text for custom fields in Checkout, it was not showing up in the full-page layout. This issue has now been fixed, ensuring that your customers receive the necessary context when filling out custom fields during checkout.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Subscription limit setting enforced in full-page Checkout

Customers using the full-page layout in Checkout could previously create duplicate subscriptions if they had multiple Checkout sessions open simultaneously even though the Allow customers to have multiple subscriptions setting was disabled. This has now been fixed, so you can be assured that subscription rules are enforced even when multiple sessions are active.

Jul '25Bug FixesHosted Pages

Previously, the Update or Save button in Checkout's legal agreements editor appeared active even when no changes had been made, but didn't respond to clicks, causing confusion. We've fixed this so that the button remains greyed out until there are actual changes to save.

Jul '25Bug FixesInvoices

Incorrect first invoice flag on renewal invoices has been fixed

Some users encountered incorrect invoice metadata where renewal invoices were erroneously marked with "first_invoice": true, particularly under scenarios involving consolidated invoicing and zero-dollar subscriptions with Hide zero value line items enabled. This resulted in misclassification of recurring invoices and triggered inaccurate customer notifications. Additionally, invoices generated using the Create invoice for unbilled charge API were incorrectly labeled as originating from "Scheduled Activity." Both issues have been resolved to ensure your invoice metadata and source fields are accurately represented, even when handling complex subscription setups or zero-dollar items.
