Why is this important?

Your team can now retire a subscription for good directly from the cancellation screen, without needing an engineer to call the API. You can also separate decommissioned subscriptions from the cancelled ones when you search, report, or clean up your subscription list, making it easier to find subscriptions you've permanently retired after cancellation while keeping their history for audit and reference. See Subscription Cancellation for how decommissioning works.

How can you use it?

To decommission a subscription:

1. In your Chargebee Billing site, open the subscription and click Cancel Subscription.
2. Choose when to cancel it.
3. Turn on Decommission this subscription.
4. Complete the cancellation.

To control whether this option shows up for your team, go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Billing LogIQ > Customers & Subscriptions > Subscription cancellation and use the Show decommissioned toggle (on by default).

Why is this important?

You can now serve the right language to each subscriber automatically, based on their billing locale or a value you pass in via API or Chargebee.js, instead of building and maintaining a separate play per language.

How can you use it?

Multi-language is currently in early access; contact Chargebee Growth support to have it enabled for your account.

1. Go to Settings > Languages and add the languages you want to support. English is always the primary language and the fallback when a translation is missing.
2. Under Language resolution, choose where Growth reads a subscriber's language from: Billing (for example, ) or API / Chargebee.js.
3. Set a matching rule for each language to map incoming locale values (for example, vs. ) to the right language.
4. Open each cancel page, offer, loss aversion card, or survey reason, enable the language variant, and translate the copy.
5. Add the content to a play as usual. Growth automatically routes each subscriber to the matching language variant, falling back to the primary language if no match is found or a translation is incomplete.

Pricing tables aren't included in multi-language support.

Why is this important?

Growth, monetization, and billing operations teams can now run price increases, catalog migrations, and plan consolidations directly, instead of relying on custom scripts or engineering time. Common use cases include aligning existing subscriptions to a new catalog price after a price increase, migrating customers from legacy per-unit pricing to tiered or volume pricing, applying annual or semiannual price increases, and migrating subscribers off a legacy plan.

How can you use it?

Renewal Optimization is currently in early access; contact Chargebee Growth support to have it enabled for your account.

1. In your Chargebee Growth site, go to Renewal Optimization in the left navigation and click + Create Renewal Optimization.
2. Define your audience: Build filter rules (property, operator, value) to select the subscriptions to target. Paused, cancelled, advance-invoiced, and contract-term subscriptions are excluded automatically.
3. Choose an action: Plan Price Adjustment, Plan Change, Addon Price Adjustment, or Align to Catalog. Each optimization supports one action type; create separate optimizations for more than one.
4. Configure how changes apply: Immediately or at the next renewal, with or without proration, and how to handle subscriptions that already have a scheduled change (skip, discard, or retain existing schedules alongside the new change).
5. Preview then publish: Review a simulation of the exact changes for your audience, export the analysis as a CSV if you need stakeholder sign-off, then publish. The optimization runs in the background, and results show counts of subscriptions modified, skipped, and failed, with a per-subscription audit log.

A published optimization can't be reversed, so always review the Preview Changes tab before publishing.

Why is this important?

Settings like week formatting previously required you to contact Chargebee Support. These are now user-configurable at runtime and take effect immediately, without a deploy or manual intervention.

How can you use it?

In your Chargebee Billing site, go to RevenueStory > Preferences to view and update details such as Week Formatting, Exclude Currency Symbol in Exports, and so on.

Why is this important?

You can now void or write off an invoice directly while an authorization is active. Chargebee automatically releases the payment hold and resolves the invoice in one step, via the app or API.

• Void or write off the invoice: Chargebee automatically releases the gateway hold first, then closes the invoice in the same step.
• Release the hold only: Cancels the payment authorization while leaving the invoice open.

How can you use it?

The invoice must have an outstanding scheduled-capture authorization.

1. Open the invoice while the transaction is authorized (not captured).
2. Use Void or Write off. Chargebee shows an authorization notice with the linked transaction IDs, voids the authorization, then voids or writes off the invoice. On the payment card, Void authorization voids the transaction only. From the API, call Void authorizations before capture with set to , , or .
3. Confirm the authorization transaction is voided. voids the transaction only and leaves the invoice open.

Why is this important?

Holding funds before final capture gives you greater operational control over order processing while lowering merchant costs:

• Flexible Fulfilment Windows: Hold authorized funds while completing stock checks, manual fraud reviews, or digital asset delivery.
• Reduced Refund and Chargeback Fees: Avoid unnecessary transaction fees and chargebacks caused by immediate captures on orders that are later canceled.
• Automated Payment Voiding: If an order is canceled or paid through another method before the capture window ends, Chargebee automatically releases the payment hold.
• Global Currency Support: Applies across all currencies supported by your PayPal Commerce integration.

How can you use it?

Prerequisite: Contact Chargebee Support to get Delayed Capture enabled for your site if Capture Settings is not visible on your PayPal configuration page.

1. In the Chargebee Billing app, go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways and select PayPal.
2. Under Advanced Configurations, open Capture Settings and set Capture Type to Manual Capture.
3. Choose a Capture Delay of up to 7 days, then select Apply and Confirm.

Note: Delayed capture applies only to customer-initiated ACDC card payments. It is not for PayPal wallet or Venmo payments, and not for merchant-initiated charges such as renewals, retries, or Dunning. Those still capture immediately.

The old name suggested this setting controlled how you bill customers overall. Proration mode makes it clear that it only affects proration.

Why is this important?

This lets you collect detailed feedback on the specific reasons that matter to you, instead of only on "Other".

How can you use it?

In the funnel designer's reason editor, turn on Enable text input for a reason and set its placeholder text. The "Other" reason keeps its text input enabled by default and remains the only reason where text entry is mandatory to submit.

Why is this important?

If different cancel experiences need different cancellation policies, you no longer need to change your global default to accommodate one funnel.

How can you use it?

In a cancel experience's configuration, use the new Cancel Timing (Chargebee) section. It defaults to Use global default, and you can override it with the same options available at the global level. Clearing the override returns the experience to the global default.

Why is this important?

• Automate negotiated deal terms across ramp stages: Quantity discounts grant a set number of free units without altering the overall billed quantity, a common requirement in custom B2B contracts. You can now schedule these terms directly within your ramp workflows.
• No manual interventions: Schedule unit discounts to trigger automatically on future ramp dates without requiring manual updates when the term takes effect.

How can you use it?

From the Chargebee Billing app

1. Open the subscription you want to add the Quantity discount to.
2. Click Create Ramps.
3. On the Create Ramps modal, click Add manual discount. Select the Discount type, enter the quantity, and choose the duration.

From the API Pass the new parameter on the Create a ramp and Update a subscription ramp endpoints. When you set a quantity, is automatically set to .

Why is this important?

You can now fix address typos on invoices taxed through AvaTax for Sales without voiding or regenerating the invoice, preserving its tax details.

How can you use it?

No additional setup is required. For AvaTax for Sales, you can update Address Lines 1-3, City, State, and Zip when:

• The Avalara document is successful and uncommitted.
• A tax re-estimate for the new address matches the tax already calculated on the invoice.

Country and the VAT Number fields can't be edited, since they affect the calculated tax.

Why is this important?

When customer data is managed directly in NetSuite or imported into Chargebee via external middleware, syncing updates back to NetSuite can overwrite master records. This control ensures your primary customer system remains untouched.

How can you use it?

In your Chargebee Billing site:

1. Go to Apps > NetSuite > Configure Advanced Sync Rules.
2. Turn off Sync Updates to Customer.
3. Click Save to save your changes.

Why is this important?

Previously, a single invalid record could stop the entire sync, leaving the dashboard showing outdated data for a longer duration without a clear explanation. Sync now continues uninterrupted, and administrators receive a clear, actionable view of which records were skipped and why.

How can you use it?

In your Chargebee Billing site, go to RevenueStory to view the following details:

• Sync status for the last 15 syncs, categorized as Healthy, Warning (some records skipped), or Error (sync stopped).
• Skipped Records details, including the specific reason each record was skipped and whether it requires action on the merchant's part.
• A status banner on the dashboard indicating when data is not fully up to date.

Skipped records are automatically retried every 15 minutes.

Why is this important?

Chargebee Billing previously formatted all currency values using the international digit grouping convention 3:3 (for example, 1,000,000). For customers operating in South Asian markets, this format does not align with the local numbering convention, making large monetary values harder to read and reconcile.

This formatting is applied automatically to currencies configured through a backend setting. By default, this includes:

• Indian Rupee (INR)
• Bangladeshi Taka (BDT)
• Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN)

How can you use it?

The updated format applies automatically across Chargebee Billing and RevenueStory Dashboards, Report Explorer, Report Builder, and covers both compact notations (K, L, Cr) and full comma-separated figures. Currencies not included in this configuration continue to use the existing international grouping.

Why is this important?

Use this for vaulting and backup-gateway merchant-initiated transactions (MIT), where one customer card can map to more than one gateway token.

• Support and integrations can see which gateway reference is active.
• That matters for card-on-file renewals in any region once you route the same card across more than one gateway, including backup-gateway MIT.

How can you use it?

Call the list API with your site API key. Prerequisite: The payment source must exist, and vaulting or backup-gateway MIT must be in use if you expect more than one token.

1. Call the List gateway payment method tokens for a payment source API.
2. Optionally pass if you need deleted mappings.

Why is this important?

Pix is Brazil's preferred instant bank payment method. Card penetration is lower than in the US or Europe, and cross-border cards fail often on fraud checks. Pix lets Brazilian customers pay from a bank app with a QR code or payment key.

• One-time Pix covers checkout QR payments. Recurring collection uses Pix Automático mandates, so renewals debit without a new QR each cycle.
• If you already process Latin America on dLocal, you get Pix on that gateway instead of adding a Brazil-only processor. Chargebee also offers Pix via EBANX and Pix via Stripe.
• Payments are asynchronous and auto-captured. For failed Pix Automático renewals, Dunning supports real-time payment retries (up to 3 attempts within 7 days), separate from card dunning.

How can you use it?

Prerequisite: Configure dLocal in Chargebee Billing, and confirm Pix (and Pix Automático for recurring) is enabled on your dLocal account.

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways > dLocal.
3. Turn on Pix and select Apply.
4. Set up Smart Routing so BRL Pix traffic uses the gateway you intend.

July brings the following enhancements to Payment Components:

1. Channel-specific payment methods. A new parameter lets you offer different payment methods by device channel, for example, cards on desktop and Payconiq on mobile.
2. Focus moves to the field that needs attention. When a payment form is ready, keyboard focus moves to the first empty field. When validation fails, focus moves to the first field with an error. This applies to payment methods with multi-field forms, including card, direct debit, iDEAL, Bancontact, UPI, and Netbanking eMandates.

How can you use it?

To get started, follow the quickstart. For scenarios that go beyond a basic integration, see use cases. If you use Card Components or the Payment Method Helper, we recommend moving to Payment Components. Both continue to be supported until further notice, but new advanced capabilities, including payment optimization and orchestration, will be available only in Payment Components and Chargebee Checkout.

Why is this important?

Offering Pix helps you convert Brazilian customers who expect local instant bank payments, not only cards. Adding Pix on EBANX and dLocal matters when you already run those gateways for Latin America: you get Pix without standing up a separate Brazil-only processor. For failed Pix Automático renewals, Chargebee supports Real Time Payments Dunning (up to 3 retries within 7 days, separate from card dunning), so you can recover more recurring revenue before final invoice actions.

How can you use it?

To accept Pix through EBANX or dLocal:

Prerequisite: Confirm Pix (and Pix Automático for recurring) is enabled on your EBANX or dLocal merchant account.

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways, open EBANX or dLocal, and enable Pix.
3. Review Smart Routing so Pix traffic routes to the gateway you intend.
4. For failed Pix Automático renewals, configure Real Time Payments Dunning under Settings > Configure Chargebee > Dunning for Online/Offline Payments. Pix dunning is separate from card dunning: Pix allows up to 3 retries within 7 days (1 per day), and Chargebee optimizes retries in that window before applying your invoice and subscription final actions.

Why is this important?

This addition gives your US customers a lower-cost alternative to cards and often reduces card-related failures on renewals. If you already use NMI for cards, ACH on the same connection means you do not need another US ACH gateway. Choose this when your US volume justifies bank debit and you want one NMI stack for cards and ACH.

How can you use it?

To process ACH payments through NMI:

Prerequisite: Confirm ACH is enabled on your NMI account.

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Open Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways > NMI, and enable ACH.
3. Update Smart Routing so USD ACH payments can route to NMI where appropriate.

Why is this important?

1. BECS NZ is New Zealand's bank-account direct debit for New Zealand dollar (NZD) currency. It suits NZ customers who prefer debiting a bank account for subscriptions. Chargebee already offers BECS NZ via GoCardless; Stripe support gives you a second gateway choice so you can keep cards and NZD direct debit on one Stripe connection.
2. UPI is India's real-time bank payment method for INR (one-time and recurring, within Stripe's UPI limits). Choose Stripe UPI when Stripe is already your primary gateway for India—for example, you take cards on Stripe today and want UPI on the same connection without adding another gateway such as Razorpay or dLocal. If you already collect UPI through Razorpay or dLocal, those paths remain available.

How can you use it?

To enable BECS NZ or UPI through Stripe:

Prerequisite:

1. Confirm that BECS NZ or UPI is enabled on your Stripe account.
2. Then contact Chargebee Support to enable BECS NZ and UPI via Stripe in your Chargebee Billing site.

Once enabled, follow these steps to configure the payment methods in your Chargebee Billing site:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways > Stripe, and enable the method you need (BECS NZ for NZD, or UPI for INR).
3. Under Smart Routing, assign Stripe for that method and currency.

Why is this important?

Google Pay via Worldpay US eCom (Vantiv) helps you convert customers who already store cards in Google Wallet, especially on mobile, without typing card details at checkout. If you already process cards on Worldpay US eCom, Google Pay settles on the same Worldpay connection instead of routing wallet traffic elsewhere.

How can you use it?

Prerequisite: Contact Chargebee Support to enable Google Pay via Worldpay US eCom (Vantiv) if it is not already enabled for your site.

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways > Worldpay US eCom (Vantiv Litle), enable Google Pay, and complete the Google Pay fields.
3. Confirm Smart Routing for the Google Pay path you want.

Why is this important?

1. Alipay is a digital wallet widely used in China and by Chinese travelers and diaspora shoppers. It supports one-time wallet payments across Adyen's supported currencies. Chargebee Billing already offered Alipay on other gateways; Adyen support helps when Adyen is already your primary stack for Asia or for routing alternative payment methods (local wallets and bank methods), so you do not need a second processor only for Alipay.
2. Klarna is a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) / bank-based option for Europe and other Klarna-supported markets (pay later, installments, or pay now, depending on shopper eligibility). If you already take cards on Adyen, Klarna on the same connection lets you offer flexible payment terms where BNPL lifts conversion, without integrating Klarna as a standalone gateway.

How can you use it?

To accept Alipay or Klarna through Adyen:

Prerequisite: Enable the payment method in your Adyen account, and contact Chargebee Support to enable Alipay and Klarna in your Chargebee Billing site.

Once enabled, follow these configuration steps:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Open Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways > Adyen, and enable Alipay and/or Klarna.
3. Confirm Smart Routing and payment method display for the countries and currencies you support.

Where they differ: Alipay is one-time only, so for subscription checkout enable one-time payment methods in Checkout & Self-Serve Portal and use Pay Now style collection for renewals. For details, see Alipay via Adyen and Klarna via Adyen.

Why is this important?

Chargebee previously supported PayPal wallet only through PayPal's legacy BAID integration. Upgrading to the Vault ID-based flow on PPCP aligns Chargebee with PayPal's Complete Payments Platform and enables modern PayPal APIs, improved tokenization and reuse, and better compliance and future support.

How can you use it?

To use Vault ID for PayPal wallet payments on PPCP:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways, open your PayPal gateway, and reconnect your PayPal account so Chargebee can request the vaulting permission required for PayPal wallet.
3. After you reconnect, new PayPal wallet payments use the Vault ID flow. Existing BAID payment methods keep working.

Why is this important?

Not every failed payment attempt creates a transaction in Chargebee Billing, so first-time checkout failures were hard to see and harder to explain. Payment Intent logs close that gap: you get full visibility into every attempt, your team can diagnose declines and authentication failures without raising a support ticket, and you can act on repeated failures before they turn into abandoned checkouts.

How can you use it?

To review payment intents:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Logs > Payment Intents.
3. Select any intent to open the details page.
4. Review the Intent Summary, Customer Info, and Attempts for status, payment method, errors, and gateway responses.

Why is this important?

Tracing a payment used to mean piecing the story together from several places. One ordered timeline answers what happened and in what order, so you can explain a payment to a customer, verify refunds during an audit, or pinpoint where a payment broke.

How can you use it?

To open Transaction Lifecycle:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Logs > Transactions.
3. Select any transaction to open its details page.
4. Review the lifecycle timeline on the right, from the first event to the most recent.
5. Use the linked entity IDs to jump to the related payment intent, refund, or transaction.

Why is this important?

When a payment behaves unexpectedly, the answer is usually in what the gateway returned. Having those calls in Chargebee means you can debug failures and integration issues without asking your gateway for logs, follow multi-call operations with a single trace ID, and keep sensitive values such as card numbers, CVV codes, and authentication tokens masked before storage.

How can you use it?

To review gateway activity:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Logs > Gateway Activity.
3. Search the logs, or filter by operation type, gateway, status code, HTTP method, invocation time, or a related resource ID.
4. Select a log to see the full request and response, along with duration, source, and trace ID.
5. From a transaction or payment intent details page, use View Request/Response Logs when you need the calls for that payment.

Note: Gateway activity logs are retained for 60 days. For full details, check our Gateway Activity Logs documentation.

Why is this important?

A payment that looks stuck in Chargebee is often a webhook that never arrived or failed to process. These logs let you confirm whether Chargebee received a webhook, inspect what the gateway actually reported, and investigate failed, delayed, or duplicate webhooks. Sensitive header and payload values are masked before storage.

How can you use it?

To review gateway webhooks:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Logs > Gateway Webhooks.
3. Search the logs, or filter by gateway, status code, URL, received time, or a related transaction, customer, or invoice ID.
4. Select a row to open the webhook details and review Headers and Webhook Payload.
5. Use the related resource links to move to the matching transaction, customer, or invoice.

Note: Gateway webhook logs are retained for 60 days. For more details, check our Gateway Webhook Logs documentation.

Why is this important?

Recovery progress used to be visible only one invoice at a time. In a single list, you can spot invoices failing on the same error or gateway, use Retryable to separate soft failures from hard declines that need a payment-method update, and see whether Chargebee, FlexPay, or Success+ is driving each retry.

How can you use it?

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Logs > Retries.
3. Search by invoice or customer, or use Filter list to narrow by retry status, amount due, currency, next retry, gateway, error code, recovery system, or attempts.
4. Click an invoice amount or number to open the invoice.
5. To collect payment now, or to pause, resume, or stop retries, use the dunning controls on the invoice.

Why is this important?

Different use cases need different guardrails. Tool input configuration lets you limit what agents can submit per server and tool, reducing risk and keeping agent-driven billing actions within the limits you define.

How can you use it?

1. In Chargebee Billing, go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Agentic AI > MCP Servers.
2. Open the MCP server you want to configure.
3. On the Tools tab, open the tool you want to constrain.
4. Configure inputs (disable fields, set defaults, or add min/max and length constraints), then click Save.

Note: Tool input configurations apply only to the specific server and tool where they are set.

Why is this important?

The marketplace connector removes setup complexity and gives admins and builders immediate, secure access to Chargebee context in the tools they already use daily.

How can you use it?

1. Open the Chargebee connector in the Claude Marketplace.
2. Follow Claude's connect flow and authenticate with your Chargebee MCP access (API key or OAuth, as configured for your server).
3. In Chargebee Billing, confirm the tools you want exposed under Settings > Configure Chargebee > Agentic AI > MCP Servers.

Note: You are responsible for actions AI clients perform through MCP. Connect only trusted clients and review actions before they run.

Why is this important?

Previously you had to create the customer first, then record the purchase. That extra step slowed process that depend on omnichannel_subscription_created event, increased API volume on bulk imports, and forced you to maintain ordering logic. One API call now covers both steps.

How can you use it?

1. Call the Record a Purchase API with .
2. If the customer record does not exist, Chargebee creates it and records the purchase.
3. Optionally include , , and/or to populate the new customer record.

Why is this important?

1. Razorpay Import is for international SaaS / services businesses that need India-local methods (especially UPI) while settling overseas. It is a separate Razorpay merchant account from Domestic / Export, and Chargebee's integration covers the SaaS Import path (not physical goods).
2. In-page UPI QR improves India checkout for UPI: keeping the QR on the same page avoids breaking immersion when Razorpay has enabled iframe / collect QR for your account.

How can you use it?

To set up Razorpay Import or in-page UPI QR:

Prerequisite:

1. Razorpay Import: Contact Chargebee Support to enable Import on your test and live sites. Enable INR on your Chargebee site. Keep Razorpay Import onboarding documents ready (bank / KYC / UBO / TRC / Form 41, and GMV declarations when applicable). Import cannot share a Razorpay MID with Domestic / Export.
2. UPI QR in an iframe: Ask Razorpay to enable the iframe / collect QR beta on your Razorpay account, then contact Chargebee Support to enable the matching Chargebee integration.

Then configure Razorpay in Chargebee:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways, and open or add Razorpay.
3. In How will you process payments?, choose Import (business outside India → customers in India).
4. Complete Razorpay's import eligibility form, finish Razorpay verification until the gateway status is Active, then enable the payment methods you need in Chargebee.
5. At checkout, collect a complete shipping address and customer name, email, and phone (required for Import).
6. UPI QR in an iframe: No separate UI toggle is required after both sides are enabled; desktop UPI QR renders in-page when the capability is on.

Why is this important?

Not every decline under the same cause should stop collection. Retryability overrides let soft failures continue into dunning or retries, so you recover more revenue on temporary failures while still hard-failing true permanent declines. You get finer control than Chargebee's default cause-level behavior alone.

How can you use it?

To mark payment error causes as retryable:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Error Settings to open Error Handling Settings.
3. Select the Gateway error group, then find the Chargebee Error ID or matching condition you want to adjust.
4. Set Retryable at the error ID level or for the specific matching rule, then click Apply.

Why is this important?

Ops and finance teams often need to segment customers by offline payment methods for reconciliation and follow-up. Those methods were missing from the filter before, which forced API exports or support requests.

How can you use it?

To filter customers by offline payment methods:

1. Log in to your Chargebee Billing site.
2. Open the Customers list.

You can download filtered omnichannel subscription data without leaving the list page, which speeds up reporting and operational workflows as Apple and Google subscription volume grows.

Why is this important?

Why is this important?

When you create a one-time invoice in the UI, you're no longer tied to the customer's stored settings. You can set the collection behavior and due date that fit each charge:

• Choose whether Chargebee attempts to collect payment automatically for that invoice.
• Set how many days the customer has to pay (Net D).

These overrides were already available on the Create invoice for items and one-time charges API. The create-invoice flow in the UI now gives you the same controls.

How can you use it?

1. On your Chargebee Billing site, confirm that Payment Terms (Net D) for one-time invoices are enabled.
2. Open a customer or subscription record, select Add One-Time Charges and Addons, and add your charges or items.
3. Set Auto Collection and Net term days (Payment Terms) for this invoice as needed, then preview and create the invoice.

Why is this important?

You can stage one-time invoices before they're finalized, and add the exact line wording you need on the invoice without changing the underlying catalog item. You can also override line item descriptions on and when you create the invoice, so the text on the invoice can differ from the product catalog default for that charge.

How can you use it?

1. Call the Create invoice for items and one-time charges API.
2. Set to when you want the invoice created as Pending.
3. Pass or (and related description fields as needed) to override line text for that invoice.

Why is this important?

Chargebee now automatically extends the first billing term for all items in the subscription by the duration of the free period, keeping invoices and renewal schedules aligned.

• Unified Renewal Dates: The free period applies seamlessly across all plans and addons, regardless of their individual billing frequencies.
• Fixed Trial Windows: The free period end date is set at creation. Any addon added while the free period is active will only use the remaining free days.
• Backdated Support: It is fully compatible with backdated subscription starts while maintaining accurate initial billing dates.

How can you use it?

1. On your Chargebee Billing site, confirm that Free Period and Multi-Frequency Billing are enabled.
2. Go to Subscriptions > Create New Subscription.
3. Add the plan and addons as required.
4. In Billing Info, set the Free period duration and unit, then create the subscription.

Note:

• Free Period isn't supported with Calendar Billing or Gift Subscriptions.
• For metered items, usage you send during the free window still counts against the extended first term; don't send usage events in the free window if you don't want them counted.

Why is this important?

Instead of generating separate invoices when scheduled price or quantity adjustments fall on the same day an item renews, Chargebee now merges all charges into a single, clean invoice.

How can you use it?

No additional setup is required.

Why is this important?

This offer serves two goals at once: it gives hesitant trial users more time to explore the product, and it gives them a reason to convert by applying a discount when their trial ends. Because trial extension and discount used to be separate offer actions, combining them means both now apply together through a single Chargebee update instead of two.

How can you use it?

1. Confirm that Chargebee Growth is connected to your Chargebee Billing site, and your application where you'll run the offer.
2. Create coupons you want to offer in Chargebee Billing.
3. In Chargebee Growth, go to Offers > + New Offer, choose objective Acquisition, and select Extension + Discount.
4. Configure the Trial extension for Button 1 and the Coupon settings for Button 2. Configure processing via the Billing integration and save.
5. Place the offer in your Acquisition experience / Play, then accept it on a trial subscription and confirm both the new trial end date and the coupon in Chargebee Billing.

Why is this important?

The new option, End of Billing Term, schedules the cancellation at the end of the last billing period the customer has been invoiced for, including any future period covered by an advance invoice. This keeps their access aligned with the date they've actually paid through, even when the billing term and the current subscription term don't match. When there are no advance invoices, it behaves the same as End of Current Term.

For example, say a customer on a monthly plan is invoiced on March 1 and, through advance invoices, has paid through May 31. If you cancel while the March 1-March 31 cycle is in progress, End of Current Term ends access on March 31, the close of the current billing cycle, while End of Billing Term keeps access until May 31, the last date they've been invoiced for.

For contract-term subscriptions, both options resolve inside the contract period:

• End of Current Term cancels at the end of the current contract term, based on your cancellation cut-off period.
• End of Billing Term cancels at the end of the billing term within the contract period, respecting the advance invoice schedule.

How can you use it?

1. In Chargebee Growth, go to Settings > Billing (Billing Settings).
2. Under When a subscription is canceled, choose Immediate, End of Current Term, or End of Billing Term, then save.
3. Optionally override timing on a specific Cancel Page under Page Settings > Billing Configuration > Cancellation Request (inherits the global setting by default).
4. Run a test cancel session and confirm the "keep access until" date and that the Chargebee Billing cancellation matches your selection.

Why is this important?

You can keep test and live apps on separate branded URLs without sharing a company-wide custom domain. Previously, a custom domain was applied at the company level, so test and live apps shared the same branded URL. Each app can now serve retention and cancel experiences on its own domain; apps without an assignment continue to use the company default domain.

How can you use it?

1. In Chargebee Growth, go to Settings > Custom domain.
2. Add any additional domains you need, complete DNS verification, and activate them.
3. Open a domain and assign the applications that should use it (for example, map your test app to a test subdomain, and your live app to your production domain).
4. Leave apps on the company default unassigned if they should keep the original domain.
5. Start a test cancel / pre-cancel session for each app and confirm the session URL uses the expected domain.

Why is this important?

Offering Klarna gives shoppers more flexible payment options and can improve conversion in regions with high BNPL adoption. Because it runs through your existing Stripe connection, you can start accepting Klarna without adding a new gateway. Klarna via Stripe supports both one-time payments and recurring subscriptions using subscription-scoped mandates.

How can you use it?

1. Prerequisite: Enable Klarna in your Stripe account.
2. This feature is in Beta — contact Chargebee Support to get it enabled for your live and test sites.
3. Once enabled by Chargebee Support, turn on Klarna under Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateway > Stripe.
4. Under Smart Routing, assign your Stripe account to Klarna for the relevant currency, and then click Apply.

Klarna via Stripe currently supports USD; support for additional currencies depends on your Stripe account configuration.

Why is this important?

You can now keep Stripe as your primary gateway for both cards and direct debit in New Zealand, simplifying reconciliation and reporting while offering customers a low-friction local bank debit option. This extends Chargebee's Direct Debit coverage alongside ACH, SEPA, BACS, BECS AU, PAD, and Autogiro.

How can you use it?

1. Prerequisite: Enable BECS NZ in your Stripe account.

You can now offer both through Worldpay US eCom (Vantiv Litle) within your existing Chargebee-powered payment flows, with the wallet card reused for subsequent recurring payments.

1. Prerequisite: Set up Apple Pay in your Apple Developer account and Google Pay in the Google Pay & Wallet Console, and ensure both are enabled on your Worldpay US eCom account.
2. This feature is in Beta — contact Chargebee Support to get it enabled.
3. Once enabled by Chargebee Support, turn on Apple Pay and Google Pay under Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateway > Worldpay US eCom (Vantiv Litle), provide the required certificates and merchant details, and click Save.

Why is this important?

Adding Ecentric expands Chargebee's gateway coverage for card payments and gives you more flexibility in how you route and secure card transactions, particularly for businesses operating in South Africa.

How can you use it?

1. Prerequisite: Have an Ecentric Payment Systems account with your Merchant GUID and Environment API URL.
2. Configure Ecentric in Chargebee Billing. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways, click Add Gateway, select Ecentric Payment System, enter your Merchant GUID and Environment API URL, and click Connect.

Once configured, card payments can be routed through this gateway.

Why is this important?

ACH lets your US customers pay directly from their bank account, offering a lower-cost alternative to cards and helping reduce card-related failures and churn. You can now offer ACH alongside cards within your existing NMI connection.

How can you use it?

1. Prerequisite: Enable ACH in your NMI account.
2. This feature is in Beta — contact Chargebee Support to get it enabled.
3. Once enabled by Chargebee Support, turn on ACH for your NMI gateway in Chargebee Billing. Eligible customers can then pay directly from their bank account at checkout, and ACH payment status updates are handled through webhooks.

Why is this important?

Until now, MCP was focused on retrieval. Write support lets teams automate common billing tasks from tools like Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT, while you still control which tools each server exposes and how clients authenticate.

How can you use it?

1. In the Chargebee Billing app, go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Agentic AI > MCP Servers.
2. Open the server you want to use (system or custom).
3. On the Toolsets / Tools tab, enable only the write tools you need.
4. On Access & Authentication, connect your AI client with API key or OAuth, then review and approve actions in the client before they run.

You are responsible for actions AI clients perform through MCP, including writes. Connect only trusted clients and review actions before they run.

Why is this important?

Different teams need different access. Custom servers let you scope tool access per use case—for example, invoice lookup only, or customer and subscription management—and reduce unnecessary exposure.

How can you use it?

1. In the Chargebee Billing app, go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Agentic AI > MCP Servers.
2. Under Custom MCP servers, click + Create custom server.
3. Name the server, add tools from the catalog, and toggle individual tools as needed.
4. On Access & Authentication, turn on MCP Access and share the server URL with your AI client (API key or OAuth).

Note: Custom MCP servers require latest Product Catalog (PC 2.0).

Why is this important?

Previously, each Razorpay gateway account required its own unique webhook URL. With the OAuth partner integration, Chargebee manages a single webhook endpoint centrally, so you no longer need to configure a separate webhook URL for each account. This simplifies onboarding and ongoing maintenance for Razorpay connections.

How can you use it?

Connect Razorpay to Chargebee Billing using the OAuth flow. Webhook configuration is handled as part of the partner integration, so no manual per-account webhook setup is required.

Why is this important?

Chargebee Billing applies default retry (dunning) behavior based on standardized error causes. By overriding this behavior for specific gateway error codes, you can tailor your payment recovery strategy — deciding which failures should enter dunning retries and which should be marked as failed without further retry attempts — while retaining Chargebee's platform defaults wherever you haven't set an override. This helps improve recovery rates and reduce involuntary churn.

How can you use it?

Set up error overrides at the gateway error code level from your payment error settings in Chargebee Billing. Learn more

Why is this important?

Restricting Chargebee.js to approved domains helps prevent your keys and checkout components from being misused on unauthorized sites, strengthening the security of your payment pages.

How can you use it?

No action is required for standard integrations. If you load Chargebee.js on custom domains, ensure they are among your configured allowed domains so the library loads correctly.

Why is this important?

Your customers no longer have to switch a full QWERTY keyboard over to its number layout to type a card or bank number on their phone. The right keypad appears the moment they tap into the field, which makes mobile checkout faster and reduces entry errors.

How can you use it?

No additional setup is required. The correct keypad appears automatically for customers completing these fields on a mobile browser.

Why is this important?

Previously, when an unapplied payment (or a credit note) was applied to an invoice in a later period, the reclassification depended on whether the earlier period was still open. If it was open, the system would reduce the unapplied balance back in the original period; if it was already closed, it recorded the reduction in the later period. That made your balances depend on period-close timing and could restate a prior period.

For example, a $10,000 payment received in January with no invoice sits fully unapplied; when a $500 invoice in February draws $500 from it, the $500 reduction should belong to February, not January.

Why is this important?

As omnichannel subscription volume grows across the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and web, you need tighter control over which records you review, sync, and report on. These filters and export options make it easier to segment subscriptions and retrieve data from Chargebee for analysis or downstream workflows.

How can you use it?

Note: Omnichannel subscriptions is in early access. Submit a request to enable this feature.

To filter omnichannel subscription data, use either of the options:

1. In Chargebee Billing, open the omnichannel subscriptions list page and apply the or filters.
2. For the List Omnichannel Subscriptions API request, use filter parameters such as , , , , , , , or .

To export omnichannel subscription data, go to Settings > Import & Export Data > Export Data in Chargebee Billing. See Export data for details.

Why is this important?

Delete lets you remove plays you no longer need, so your archive stays focused on items you might still reference. Delete is different from archive, archive temporarily removes a play from active use, while delete permanently removes an archived play from the Plays list and the Archive section.

How can you use it?

1. In Chargebee Growth, go to the Plays module and open Acquisition, Expansion, or Retention, depending on where the play lives.
2. Open the Archive section. Find the archived play you want to remove, click the menu, and select Delete.
3. Click Confirm. Only archived plays show the Delete action.

Why is this important?

If you manage many plays across Acquisition, Expansion, or Retention objectives, exporting reports or archiving completed plays one at a time does not scale. Bulk actions let you handle repetitive reporting and cleanup from the plays list.

How can you use it?

1. In Chargebee Growth, go to the Plays module and select Acquisition, Expansion, or Retention.
2. Use the Cancel Page, In-app Offer, or Pricing Table tab to view the desired plays.
3. Select up to five plays. Once five plays are selected, you cannot select more until you clear your selection.
4. When at least one play is selected, choose Export CSV or Archive, or click X button to deselect all and close the bar. 4a. Click Export CSV to bulk export reports. The download includes report data for each selected play type:

• In-app offer plays: customer-level and user-level reports.
• Cancel page plays: experience performance and offer performance reports.
• Pricing table plays: user-level sessions and visitor-level sessions reports. If you select plays across more than one play type, Chargebee delivers one CSV file per play type, bundled together in a ZIP file.

Why is this important?

If the purchaser enters the wrong recipient email at checkout, the intended recipient can't claim the gift, because the claim flow validates the email against the stored value before allowing redemption. Previously, fixing a typo meant contacting Chargebee for a manual data update. Now you can correct the recipient details yourself through the API, so the right person can complete their redemption without delay.

How can you use it?

Call the Update a gift operation with the updated , , or values. The update is allowed only while the gift is unclaimed, and the claim flow then validates against the new values so the recipient can redeem normally. This updates the gift receiver details only, not the linked customer record; to change the customer record, update the customer separately.

Why is this important?

Previously, when a subscription was scheduled to end mid-cycle, Chargebee Billing invoiced the full final period and then issued a credit note for the unused portion. The net amount was correct, but the extra credit note created accounting artefacts, complicated integrations, and incorrectly reported deferred revenue until the credit note was generated at cancellation. By billing the exact final period upfront, Billing eliminates the need for a credit note and simplifies billing.

How can you use it?

1. Go to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Billing LogIQ > Customers & Subscriptions > Subscription cancellation.
2. For "When a subscription is scheduled to be canceled after the current billing period, how do you want to bill the final period?", select Invoice only the remaining term.
3. Click Apply.

Why is this important?

Many businesses need to distinguish invoices by type, business line, region, or customer segment, for accounting and compliance. For example, some tax regimes require a separate numbering format for simplified invoices, and finance teams often want distinct series for different brands or entities. A single shared number series makes this hard without workarounds. Segment-based numbering lets you meet reconciliation and compliance requirements for each invoice category without splitting your operations across multiple Chargebee sites.

Instant order completion after payment authorization

Chargebee now creates or updates the subscription the moment a payment is authorized, even if your customer doesn't make it back to the original checkout page. Many payment methods redirect customers to an external banking app or link for authorization. On mobile devices especially, customers often do not return to the original checkout page once the payment is approved. Chargebee now updates the subscription the moment authorization is received—ensuring a successful transaction even if the customer closes the window or navigates away.

Fixed total confirmation before payment

The payment authorization step now occurs immediately after the order review step. This locks in the exact final total—including taxes and shipping adjustments—before the customer authorizes the payment. This prevents total mismatches and failed transactions that previously occurred if a customer modified their address late in the checkout flow after an early authorization had already taken place.

Other improvements to the checkout flow

• Conditional Shipping Fields: Configure checkout to collect shipping addresses only when the cart contains shippable items.
• Early Error Validation: Address fields (like postal codes) are now validated during the address entry step, instead of at the final submit.
• Hybrid Cart Support: Smoother, error-free handling when you add a recurring item to one-time checkout.
• Skip Cart Safeguard: Enabling the "skip cart" setting will no longer bypass the customer login step.

Why is this important?

GoCardless enforces BECS compliance regulations for Direct Debit payment notifications. These notifications give your customers more detail about upcoming debits and changes to their Direct Debit Request (DDR).

To stay compliant, enable Direct Debit email notifications for your customers either in Chargebee or GoCardless.

Why is this important?

Businesses running periodic price increases often turn proration off during a mid-cycle change so existing subscribers aren't charged right away. Previously, if a subscriber then upgraded or changed their subscription later in the same term with proration on, Chargebee did not credit what they had already paid for that term, which could overcharge them. This enhancement credits the unused current-term charges correctly, so your subscribers pay only the incremental difference for the remaining days.

Why is this important?

Some businesses ship goods from more than one location, or sell products tied to different physical origins. Applying a single site-level origin address to every line item produces the wrong tax for any item whose origin differs from your primary address. Most local payment methods have already been migrated—ACH Credit and SEPA Credit Transfers are now being transitioned. If you use these methods, Stripe will now treat them as Bank Transfers (Automated Bank Transfers in Chargebee).
